<p style='text-align: justify;'> Three volumes of Greek literary works by Pindar, Theocritus, and Hesiod printed separately by Guillaume Morel in Paris, bound together. Previously owned by Richard Montagu, and containing extensive MS. annotations in some parts. Some annotations in John Cosin's hand are also present.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Richard Montagu (or Mountague) was Bishop of Chichester (1628-1638) and of Norwich (from 1638). He had previously worked for Henry Savile, the provost of Eton, on a Greek edition of John Chrysostom (1610), one of the first books issued by the Eton press. Before his episcopal appointment, Montagu was a fellow of Eton College from 1613, royal chaplain from 1615, and Dean of Hereford from 1616. After his death, he was acknowledged as a notable collector of books (T. Browne, Miscellaneous Writings, ed. G. Keynes, 1946, 154).</p>
