Joseph Needham's caption: Chez T'ang Fei-fen at Vaccine Institute. Location (modern): Beijing, China 中國北京市. Wu Huan-hsing is mentioned on p. 7 of the Commission Report. Many people in the photograph have not yet been identified.</p><p style='text-align: justify;'>Joseph Needham's letter to Dorothy Needham dated Thursday 26 June states: 'Then at 4 [Tuesday] carried off by Wu Huan-Hsing and Chung Hui-Lan, new medical friends, to tea and ice cream at Thang Fei-Fen's place; he asked (as everyone else does) most concernedly about you, and remembered about the wrong way in the Rue de Vaugirard. His institute is about ten times the size of the Kmg. [Kuomintang?] one.'</p>
