Cavendish Laboratory : The drawing office with Lindsey in the distance
Cavendish Laboratory

This was one of the larger laboratories into which the Cavendish expanded when the Engineering Department moved to its new building in Trumpington Road. It housed many experiments and some important equipment, such as the annular magnet and the ionization chamber with a scale-of-two counter. Fred LInsey began work in the Laboratory as an apprentice aged 14 and finally retired as Laboratory superintendant in June 1980. Photo by R.G. Stansfield.
