<p style='text-align: justify;'>Glassblowing was an important skill for all experimental physicists at the Cavendish, as they had to construct all their apparatus theselves with very little money for materials. For a long time this skill was taught to research students by James Chadwick. A summer course was held in the attic of the 1896 Laboratory extension which was referred to as the 'Nursery'.
