Cavendish Laboratory
<p style='text-align: justify;'>Unlike the original Cockcroft and Walton accelerator, the 1 and 2 MeV machines were bought commercially from the Phillips Company. The High Tension Laboratory was built in 1937 on a site adjacent to the Austin Wing. Eventually it was converted into the Cockcroft lecture theatre with practical laboratories on the upper two floors. Pictured on the right are (left to right) P.I. Dee and M. Oliphant.
