In 1933 Oliphant designed and built a simplified version of the Cockroft-Walton machine which operated at voltages up to 200 kV and produced fluxes of protons one hundred times greater than the earlier machine. Oliphant and Rutherford confirmed their earlier results and provided many more details of the products of the disintegrations (Longair, 2016, p.218).
