Cavendish Laboratory : Positive ray parabolae for the isotopes of neon by Thomson and Aston
Cavendish Laboratory

Black and white photograph of positive ray parabolae including the isotopes of neon by Thomson and Aston. See: Thomson, Phil. Mag. (6), 24, 209, 1912. These images were taken with the positive ray apparatus shown in P47. The slight separation between the parabolae for Ne20 and Ne22 represented the discovery of non-radioactive isotopes. Radioactive isotopes were already known from the work of Rutherford and his colleagues.
