Labelled ‘William Jermy only son of John Jermy of Bayfield in Norfolk Esq. Married in Augt 1735 to Elizabeth Richardson only Sister and Heir to William Lord Richardson ~~’ Strikingly similar in style to 308 and doubtless drawn at a similar date. After the death Elizabeth, William Jermy’s widow, in 1667 the Teversham estate passed to the Barker family, her husband’s relatives, and they broke the entail, enabling sale of the estate. By 1693 it belonged to Thomas Watson, Bishop of St David’s, then to his niece’s daughter Mary. These Jermys of Bayfield were subjects of the scandalous story of William’s marriage to Elizabeth, sister and heir of William Lord Richardson, 5th Baron of Cramond (103).

VCH 2002; RCHME 1972
