Labelled, ‘Escutcheon of Sir Paul Whichcote Bart of Stow cum Quy Hall (son of Sir Thos. Whichcote Bart.of Aswarby Lincolnsh: created April 2 1660).He died 1721’. John Child, son of Sarah and John (270) died in 1684 and his widow Elizabeth promptly sold Quy Hall to Sir Paul (presumably James?) Whichcote, Bt. who died 1721. His son Sir Francis, after an expensive county election campaign in 1722 and work to make the Hall a suitable house for an MP, sold the estate to his (perhaps over-helpful) bankers, Thomas and James Martin (274), when they foreclosed on him. The hatchment was probably removed during repairs by the Francis family.

GEC Baronetage 1900-06; VCH 2002
