Roger Pepys (1617-1688), MP 1661 to 1678, lawyer and Recorder of Cambridge, was the diarist Samuel Pepys' ‘Cousin Roger’. Samuel was from a poorer branch of the family and was treated kindly by Roger and his family before he became successful in his administrative role, founding the Royal Navy. He was a frequent visitor to Impington Hall, they socialised in London, and Roger’s family appear in the Diary. Roger was succeeded by his grandson Roger (c.1672-1744) who rebuilt the manor house. His son Charles, the last Pepys of Impington, died 1778.In the S window are also the Pepys’ arms. The hatchment was described and transcribedby Cole but now lost.

Bell 2013; Palmer 1932
