<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>The crest is shown in the monument but has been superimposed over the mantle of a knight of the Bath apparently copied from elsewhere. In addition to his contemporary coat, breeches, cloak and wig (<b>187</b>) Sir Thomas Wendy has a gilded C16 helmet, C17 sword, gauntlets and spurs displayed above him, all anachronistic and irrelevant to his peaceful cultured life.</p></p>
