<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>The E end of the church was approached from Harston Road before it became another 40ft-wide public road, unlike Harlton Road, which it joined and which was closed at Enclosure. The view is taken from the village green. In this case the church marked the end of the village High Street, with an open vista that owes a lot to the wide unsurfaced road and sparse habitation around what is usually the centre point of a village. Of the church we see the ‘debased 17th-century’ window that was replaced by Fawcett in 1875-6, and a large brick buttress on the S, plainly installed as an emergency measure. Two roads diverge here, with Broad Lane edged by the wall around Haslingfield Hall, and the road to S sweeping round to Chapel Hill (<b>168</b>). A horseman, 4 pedestrians and 2 small children are passing on the quiet road. Colourful costumes and the woman’s mode of carrying a basket are interesting. </p></p>
