Relhan Collection : 142 Fen Ditton church. E window, showing fragmentary glass and reredos (?)
Relhan, Richard, 1782-1844
Relhan Collection

The E window Relhan records must have been the one replaced by Clayton and Bell in 1881. It had been put in when the chancel was restored 1775 (141a) and presumably replaced a medieval window which produced the fragmentary glass Relhan records. These fragments surround several shields of arms, two surmounted by mitres showing the close connection of the bishops with the church due to their house at Biggin Abbey (216). The reredos is likely to date from the restoration of 1772, when Cole refers to an earlier, medieval, reredos being discovered, fragments of which survive in store.

RCHME; Saunders P pers comm
