<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Tinted pen and ink drawing </p><p>WB Grenside</p><p>This early C15 triple piscina and sedilia disappeared from the church during one restoration but were found and incorporated into the chancel again during work in 1842-44. Since then the ribs and rosettes decorating the 3rd arch have been replaced. William Bent Grenside went to Peterhouse 1841 but migrated to Trinity College, where he was studying when he made this drawing. He was a youthful member of Council for the new Cambridge Antiquarian Society and Cambridge Camden Society, and produced a folio of watercolours of Roman finds in the collection of Mr Inskip of Shefford, Beds (Gents Mag 20 1843), which he displayed to Cambridge Antiquarian Society. After brief curacies in Cheshire he held a living in Melling, Lancs for almost 60 years and died 1913 as Canon Grenside, an honorary canon of Manchester, aged 92. </p><p>The Ecclesiologist 1842; Pickles J pers comm; VCH 1989; Venn</p></p>
