<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>The hatchment was not recorded in 1973. Balthazzar Leyel was an East India merchant from a Scottish family that settled in Sweden, who purchased the Bourn estate from Admiral John Haggar in 1733. Leyel died in 1740, leaving his estates to his wife Elizabeth and then to his nephew, Henry Lyell (<b>50</b>). He also purchased Haslingfield Hall and its surviving estate from Sir Roger Burgoyne (<b>200</b>). </p><p>VCH 1973</p></p>
