<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>1820 </p><p>There was an unconsecrated church at Benwick from about 1637. The church was replaced 1856 but the replacement became unsafe and was demolished 1985. It is unlikely that Relhan visited Benwick. Relhan dates his drawing within a month of Burges’s appointment as sheriff and it seems likely that the opportunity to copy them arose in Cambridge from some ceremonial event or publication in connection with the announcement.</p><p>Saunders P pers comm</p></p>
