Recto: letter from Hilāl b. Yūsuf in Alexandria to Abū l-Afrāḥ ʿArūs b. Yūsuf (active 1088-1116 CE). Hilāl reports that 5 qinṭārs of wool (weighed by ʿAbd al-Raḥmān), worth 30 dinars have been loaded onto a ship in the harbour. This was difficult to accomplish as the paperwork for the shipment had been lost. The freight will cost 6 dinars - 3 of which Hilāl has paid in Alexandria and the remaining 3 will be due at the ship’s destination, Almería (Spain). Greetings are sent to Abū l-Waḥš, and the trader Abū Mūsā Hārūn b. Šammār is mentioned. Verso: address, and a charitable collection list in ʿArūs’s hand.
