Joseph, the qayyim (superintendent) of the ‘small’ synagogue in Alexandria, who is noted as possessing a house in Cairo, returns to his brother’s son Sulaymān the gifts (including 60 jarras of wine) given to his daughter, as their long engagement has now been dissolved. Dated Kislev 1542 (= November/December 1240 CE) in Fusṭāṭ.</p>
