Letter from Ḍiyā bint Yūsuf al-Qamarī in Alexandria to her relative, Abū l-Ḥasan ʿAllūn al-Firnās (i.e. ʿEli ha-Kohen the parnas b. Yaḥya; active 1057-1107 CE), in Fusṭāṭ, asking him to appeal to the Nagid (Mevoraḵ b. Saʿadya, in office 1079-1082 and 1094-1111) to help get her son Fuḍayl out of prison. Fuḍayl had been brought before a Jewish judge, and then Abū Saʿd b. Šardāna brought him before the qāḍī al-Makīn, who imprisoned him. Ḍiyā must now give her son’s jailor several dirhams every day and she cannot afford to do so. Also mention Abū l-ʿAlā, head of the congregations. Address on verso.
