Cairo Genizah

<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Opening of a letter in Judaeo-Arabic, with an address in Arabic script on verso. The addressee's name in the second line of the letter is partially preserved as Mevasser ha-zaqen ha-niḵbad ('the respected elder', הזקן הנכבד), and in Arabic, Abū l-Ḥasan Bišr b. Hilāl al-Baḡdādī, i.e., Mevasser b. Hillel in Hebrew. In the handwriting of Abraham b. Solomon Gaʾon. Only the right-hand side of the address is preserved, so we cannot tell if it was written in Abraham's own name or on behalf of his father, as was common. The Arabic blessings in the address follow the usual formula used by the Gaʾon Solomon b. Judah: اطال الله بقاه وادام عزه وتأيده وسعادته.</p></p>
