Joseph b. Zakkay b. ʿAzarya b. Solomon b. Josiah. The letter is dated Tišre [1]600 Sel. (= 1288 CE) and was sent from Mosul, presumably at the instigation of David b. Abraham b. Moses Maimonides. David b. Daniel addresses the controversy over Solomon b. Samuel of Acre’s objections and criticism of Moses Maimonides’ Guide for the Perplexed, excommunicating all who would cast aspersions on Maimonides’ work.</p>
