Above the ketubba text is a poem in Hebrew celebrating the marriage. Above this poem are a selection of biblical verses in Hebrew written perpendicular to the text below. These verses (Jeremiah 13:18, Ezekiel 21:31, Job 34:10, Jeremiah 10:10, Nahum 1:6, Jeremiah 10:11, Daniel 2:21) are headed by a title in Judaeo-Arabic saying ‘verses read before giving an astrological decision’, and are a secondary addition to the document having nothing to do with the marriage contract.</p>
