Sandbach Tinne : From Peter Lans, Demerara, to Robert M. Gordon, Kirkcudbright, 1844-02-17
Lans, Peter
Sandbach Tinne

Concerning the transaction between RMG's late brother-in-law and Mr Rae. Requests RMG to 'push the old man' to pay the bill, but PL will pay it if the old man does not. Has hopes that 'young Johns' will pay it, as PL is ill equpped to do so. If PL does pay, it must be kept secret. Sympathises with RMG's domestic misfortunes. He and his family are well but trade is depressed in Demerara and their other West Indian possessions. Recommends his friend and former employee Mr Muirhead, who will be in Kircudbright in May to visit PL's mother and 'Maggies relatives'.
