Sandbach Tinne : From George Rainy, Demerara, to Charles S. Parker (copy), 1821-04-24
Rainy, George
Sandbach Tinne

Agrees to a proposal respecting the claims of the House and Rainy and his brothers, heirs in the proceeds of sales of enslaved people at the Kiltearn estate. A petition is before the Court to appoint a day of sale. Croal is not authorised to make any settlement or compromise for the Heirs of Cliff. GR hopes his compromise will be accepted by the person who acts for them at home. GR makes disparaging comments about his cousin, Mrs Fraser, who has eloped with a man she met at a Missionary or Methodist chapel. The transport to Mr McInroy of CSP's share in the Windward estates is now being advertised. GR has not written to his friends in Glasgow for a while because he expected to be there before now; hopes to get away by August. The sugar crop will be poor this year but coffee probably better.
