Manuscript possibly commissioned by a merchant. The paintings appear very anachronistic in comparison with the calligraphy and date of the MS.

The work has been studied, and compared with another manuscript of the same text: Turk ve Islam Eserleri Muzesi, no. 1953, by Charles Melville, 'From Firdausi to Rashid al-Din: Persian verse chronicles of the Mongol period', Studia Islamica 1004-1005 (2007), pp. 45-65. The work is heavily didactic and moralising especially in the latter portions of the text. The BNF copy has several lacunae and frequent disordering of the folios compared with the TIEM copy, both of which are independent of each other.

Link to the digitised manuscript (b/w): https://gallica.bnf.fr/ark:/12148/btv1b10087014r/f3.planchecontact
