<p style='text-align: justify;'>This letter belongs to a collection of letters from Joseph Needham to Dorothy Needham while he was a member of the International Commission on Bacteriological Warfare in China and Korea in 1952. Written from the Peking Hotel, it describes his meetings with scientists, gathering information for his medical chapter (including meetings with parasitologists Feng Lan-Chou [Feng Lanzhou 馮蘭洲], [Reinhard] Hoeppli and entomologist Chu Hung-Fu [Zhu Hongfu 朱弘复], a visit to the Pei Ta [Bei Da 北大] Medical School, a talk with Chhien San-Chhiang [Qian Sanqiang 錢三强] about Needham’s role and the purpose of the liaison group and impressions of the Chinese people.</p>
