Cairo Genizah : Letter

Cairo Genizah

Part of a letter to Ephraim, who is probably Ephraim b. Šemarya, the head of the Jerusalemites in Fusṭāṭ. Prefaced with a quotation from Proverbs 4:18, the extensive opening blessings are in Hebrew. The main body is missing, but the right-hand marginalia are in Judaeo-Arabic; there is a partial address on verso. The letter is edited by Bareket (1995: 36-8, but misnumbered as Mos. Ia.13.1 there), who identifies the sender, from his handwriting, as Sahlān b. Abraham, but this is not his handwriting.
