The letter was sent from the town of al-Ramlah: كتابى اليك من الرملة. The writer (a mawlā 'freedman') expresses the wish to be reunited with the addressee (a woman) quickly: اسل الله يا ستى ان يجمع بيننا عاجلا سريعا فى عافية 'I pray to God, my Lady, that God will unite us quickly in good health'.
