David Jones : Letter from David Jones to Jim Ede: Tony Stoneburner has asked him to go to Washington
Jones, David, 1895-1974

David Jones has been busy writing [? The Sleeping Lord] for 'Agenda' [Spring-Summer 1967]. Unhappy about the illustrations he has chosen. Tony Stoneburner has asked him to go to Washington to speak on Art and Sacrament, or at least to write something along the lines of that in 'Epoch and Artist' but David Jones feels that he cannot 'explain' any more. Explains the content of 'Vexilla Regis' in great length and depth, with two sketches; quotes of St Augustine; comments on the 'vernacularisation of the Mass'; Mary Magdalen [for amplification of what he says see 'Use and Sign' printed by 'Golgonooza Press]. Glad that various people, including David Blamires, have been to see Ede. Jones also went to see Nicolete Gray about the Helen Sutherland collection. No address.
