<p style='text-align: justify;'><p>Uniquely, this embroidery is stitched with the words of an unusually long Ottoman-Turkish song about unrequited love, expertly composed by the sampler's maker. She has also signed her work. The green parrots on either side of the fountain or vase symbolise lovers, while buildings, landscapes, ships, conjoined hands and flowerpots provide an insight into the world in which she lived.</p></p>
