Newton's presentation copy of his Professorial Lectures, of which another copy, by Cotes, corresponding with this is in the library of Trinity College, and has been described in Mr Edleston's Correspondence of Newton and Cotes (London 1850), p. xcviii. The word Secundus in the title is crossed through; it may have been originally intended for a second book of the MS. Dd. ix. 46, which is headed, 'De motu corporum Liber primus'.
