<p style='text-align: justify;'>Tsountas House is so named after Christos Tsountas who first excavated the area and published his findings in 1886. The area occupies the lower and middle terraces (west-east orientated) of the slope south of Grave Circle A. The three basement rooms (storerooms?) on the lower terrace are proximate to the Hellenistic 'Polygonal Tower' section of the citadel's Cyclopean walls. The upper rooms of the middle terrace comprise an open court, an ante chamber and a megaron with two side rooms. Collectively they form part of a complex designated Mycenae's 'Cult Centre' by G. Mylonas. He considered Tsountas’ House to have been a ‘treasury’ to the shrines.</p>
