Decoding the Desert : Goodchild: Cyrene and Cyrenaica

Decoding the Desert

Lantern slides bordered with black tape and labelled with a white paper slip, pertaining to Cyrene. Seemingly collected by Richard Goodchild for the 1959 publication of Cyrene and Apollonia, An Historical Guide, likely from 1953 in his capacity as Controller of Antiquities in Cyrenaica. These include several aerial photographs of Cyrene, taken by Hunting Aerosurveys, as well as several photographs of busts from Cyrene, a couple of inscriptions and maps depicting the Mediterranean and Cyrenaica.
