<p style='text-align: justify;'>Pasted in on the flyleaf are handwritten labels, 'Ephesus, June 1876' and 'Athens, April 1875'. Also inscribed, 'J. Henry Middleton, King's College, Cambridge, Feb. 1874', and - struck through - '4 Storey's Gate, S.W., Westminster', also the note 'Date of book 1836'. The notebook consists of Middleton's notes on Ionic architecture, with bibliographic references for his sources.
