<p style='text-align: justify;'>This palm-leaf manuscript is the oldest extant witness of Kṣemendras <i>Bodhisattvāvadānakalpalatā</i>, a collection of Buddhist legends from written in the 11th century in the style of <i>kāvya</i> (ornate poetry). Translated into Tibetan between 1260 and 1280 on behalf of 'Phags-pa Blo-gros-rgyal-mtshan, the advisor of Kublai Khan, this work enjoyed great popularity in Tibet and became a milestone of literary style as well as a source of inspiration for visual artists. </p>
